Katarina Brozovic is the current Executive Officer of the Darebin Ethnic Communities Council (DECC). A formidable lady of Croatian background, Katarina works an unseemly number of hours, far more than for what she’s paid, organising various initiatives and relentlessly driving the cause forward.
Her red-tinged hair is a common presence in the DECC office and like most members of that organisation, Katarina is erudite and talkative. She’s quick to engage in discussions ranging from local politics, housing, and Eastern European conflict, to the ins and outs of Islamic sectarianism – all delivered with a sharp dose of realism and wit.
“There is some reality. Not reality – but the side of reality that is really bitter. ”
Exile and the Kingdom
“I ran away from Iran. I didn’t leave my country. ”
The melancholic carpenter
“I had the baddest and the crazy life ever. No one can see it.”
